100% agree with both your posts. Trying to "cure" or fix or hide the stutter - especially when you're young and still very mentally affected by it - can exacerbate your problem with it. It becomes even worse for a lot of people because most stutters can't be cured through speaking techniques, so it is a continuous process of getting your hopes dashed and being unhappy with yourself. It reinforces the idea that you need therapy to fix something about yourself, that you need to change how you are and there's something wrong with you. As aldjfh said, the real goal needs to be acceptance and being happy with who you are.
