I wish I had tried other interventions besides depending on medication. I did have 20 ish months of fluency several years ago while I was prescribed Abilify. It didn’t last. I had severe side effect then, restless legs and insomnia and had to stop. I recently began Abilify again in a tiny dose without any issues. It’s a subclinical dose and I’m going to request increasing it. I really miss total fluency. It was a tease. Now at 78f I’m accepting things. I just turned down a speech-language diagnosis at our medical school. At this point my mild/moderate stuttering will just be part of me without any regret. Perhaps an increased Abilify dose would help again. I never had any speech therapy or even self speech therapy. I’m totally fluent in the phone (strange) perhaps my abusive childhood made face to face speech difficult. I do recommend any and all speech therapy, self therapy, to all of you. Anything you can do to lessen your symptoms is helpful. Even as a patient of Dr. Gerald Maguire, who is at the forefront of medication treatment of stuttering, other interventions are recommended. I wish you all the best. Don’t give up. Sincerely
