What’s really really weird to me is, I’ve been self employed for the past 3 years, e commerce own business it was very isolated (since it was me alone). I could not even say my name. I’ve started working in a warehouse and obviously I get asked my name a lot. First week I’d just show my driving licence as I was too afraid to say my name and stutter. 2nd week I would say my surname. Today was the 3rd week, and I just thought f#ck it, these people ain’t gonna eat me & I made my lung area and belly extremely relaxed, I can successfully say my first name now, don’t get me wrong it’s not instant nor is it fluent so to say, but it finally comes out of my mouth. The best advice I can give for anyone with a stutter is = go! Do it! Fuck it up completely! It’ll just make you question yourself, why, what’s the matter, am I too nervous etc. Eventually it will come out, you just gotta risk a couple of embarrassments a few times but if you don’t try you’ll never know. Previously I was 2% confident when saying my first name. Over the period of 3 weeks, I would say it’s jumped up to 60%. I relax, forget the bullshit, feel my chest area and say my name. This is said way too much and sounds clichè but socialise more. I even said “Hi you alright” today, to a pretty hot looking lady & she replied “yes I’m good”, probably sounds stupid but you need to try one way or another to socialise & take yourself out of the “mind fuck jail” your stutter has made for you. Peace out everyone
