I attend a ton of meetings where we have to go around the room and introduce ourselves. I started saying “my name is” first to sort of get the ball rolling and that seems to work well. I got sick of doing that because no fluent person does that so now I just say my name. I can get my first name out ok but there is this weird pause between my first and last name that I just can’t seem to shake. Stuttering makes me laugh sometimes when I think about it. I think almost all stutterers struggle with their name and introducing themselves. How much time do you think a fluent person has spent in their life worrying about whether or not they could even say their name? Probably none right. Yet here we all are worrying about it all the time, making threads about it, and we’ve even all developed our own little tricks to help with it. There’s no point to this rant, I just sometimes laugh at the absurdity of stuttering and how much it can suck.
