I think this should be on you. I mean, it certainly can help. I had professors in college that i self-disclosed to. But, i did that on a class-specific basis. I don’t think it’s reasonable to always do it... but you can certainly do it when you want to. To answer your question though, do you tell anyone that you stutter? It not, is there someone you could tell. Basically, if the teacher thing is too much, set a smaller and more attainable goal first. Then work up to it.
