I think accepting that it's a disability that means that it will always be awkward for me to talk really helped actually, even if it seems counterintuitive. If you just accept the fact that you're going to sound kinda stupid when you talk, it helps not fight against it, and the less you fight against it, the less frustrated and ashamed and anxious you get. When I stutter, in the moment, I'm like "oh this is annoying, but it'll be over in a few moments and the conversation will carry on like normal afterwards" in my head.
