It's very common to block on your own name and it seems to further validate the emotional component of stuttering. In my experience, my name was my main problem area for years, but after a significant life stress, I started blocking on almost anything. You don't want to go there. I learned that blocks happens because we are trying to force through to avoid an "embarassing" repetition/prolongation. I then learned that the only way to truly address it and gain control over your speech in a easy, comfortable way is to do the opposite of whatever you are doing naturally. Also, short repetitions/prolongations that easily transition to the next sound are NOT a problem, as many fluent people have them as well. Instead of avoiding, replacing, speeding up, and taking a deep breath TRY voluntary stuttering, making eye contact, slowing down, and talking on a regular exhale.
