Any Nurses who stutter in here? Hello everyone, I am fairly new to this subreddit, so I just wanted to recount my story to you guys, and maybe solicit a bit of advice lol. I am 23, and I have a stutter, all of which consists of blocks (D's, M's, N's, and B's, anyone have in tips for blocks on those letters? they are the worst) I have throughout life been able to control it. i would like to think my stutter is on the more mild side, as it has not affected me much in terms of relationships, romantic or otherwise, school, etc. However, life takes course, and I find myself here with a nursing degree as a registered nurse. I was able to glide through nursing school no problem, however, school and real life are two different things. I recently graduated, not even a month ago, and I am going through a phase were I am so scared about not being able to hold a nursing career because of my stutter. Communication is so key in this field, and I am worried that patients and doctors might look at me the wrong way if I stutter. What if there is an error in practice due to my speech? I know I can definetly glide through the initial interview, however I am concerned about my career in the long term. Can one get fired over a stutter? Any nurses on here with a stutter who can give me some input? Thank you for reading this.
