The way to do it is to not let it impact your life. Don't let it determine whether you do something. For me, a big problem growing up was I used the stutter as an excuse not to pursue what I wanted. Stuttering can't hurt you, except make you embarrassed. You've just got to weather the storm. It gets better with time. I don't like to promote too much but I made a video on this subject just yesterday, if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WerFDFHwuOc I'm 28, and age 20 was a tough place stuttering-wise for me too. It was early in my career and every day was a firing range. But just putting yourself out there and letting yourself get hit is what got me to accept and be okay with stuttering, because eventually it stops hurting.
