In my experience not really. All the teachers always defended me from bullying because I got bullied for my stutter, especially this one teacher who also had a stutter so she had my back because she went through. I got put in speech therapy ever since kindergarten(or pre-k) and I got it every single grade, and it will probably continue when I go into highschool this year. Always patience with me, of course the occasional “Slow down” but not that bad, and never made fun of me and punished anyone who did. I remember I was talking to a friend and a boy said “At least I’m not slow like [my name]”. The teachers and even some of the kids immediately started going after the kid and my teacher who we will call Mrs.L pointed out how I had a C in math while he had an E, made me feel so much better :). Then another time I went to go ask my history teacher a question but he made a noise and some of the kids in the class had wide mouths because they thought he was mocking my stutter, until he explained to me in private how he wasn’t mocking me he just sometimes makes a noise to relieve some of the stress because kids were asking him too much questions at one time and he would never do that. I had to go explain to other kids that he wasn’t mocking it. And my speech therapists were always so nice and fun to hang out with, I actually looked forward to speech therapy, but also so I could get out of work. In highschool my bullying will probably get worse but I’m pretty sure my principal of my middle school told my principal of the high school so I have the teachers to back me up. Sorry this is so long.
