hey, i am an organic chemist, too! i have a phd in the field, did a post-doc, and am now working at a pharmaceutical company as a process chemist. ​ i'm a real-deal, bona-fide stutterer. i have been stumbling and stuttering through presentations since i was basically 18 (31 now). it was a very traumatic experience back in the day, and it's still tough but it gets better. ​ you can do it, i promise! most people are generally nice, some people are jerks, but that's life. the nice thing about organic chemistry is that the products are up on the slide or poster usually so you can point and sometimes substitute if you think you have to. i actually think i partially chose chemistry since i thought i would have to speak less -- you have to communicate a fair bit, but it's good to put yourself out there and challenge yourself and to grow. ​ PM if you want to chat more, good luck!
