Thanks for explaining. That’s great to hear your success and empowerment. Sounds very similar to me, except maybe the ways around the blocks. I’ve always held eye contact since I was a kid. (It’s a pride thing for me) Very few people know I stutter. Nobody at work does. This past year I started a new job where I’m required to be at conferences behind a booth (6x a year). I was very nervous at first, but have yet to shut down block. I have lots of threats, but use so many synonyms / rephrase / deflections / ask questions / whatever to bypass them. Sometimes before the events I repeat “You’re a badass, you got this!”. Lol, it works. You gotta love yourself first. It comes out bad around family, so I stay quiet around them.
