Yes, mine is. My mum and uncle stutter, and so did my great-grandfather. However, my little sister, cousins, grandparents etc do not. So it's definitely hereditary but there are still way more people in my family that don't stutter than the other way around. I am not an expert at all but my theory is that, a person can be predisposed to it, but stress or trauma in early life makes it more likely to develop. It's the classic line of: genetics load the gun, lifestyle pull the trigger. For example, me and my mum had a quite stressful childhoods (lots of family conflict, very strict parents and carers etc), my sister did not. I personally wouldn't read too much into it, especially now with your child being so young. A stutter can develop at any time in early childhood, and you will have a much better view if your child stutters after they start speaking full words and sentences. Most likely, your little one will be just fine.
