A silly thing people will say Has this ever happened to you? Someone hears you talk on a day when you’re stuttering a lot, and then the next time you see them, you happen to be having a fluent day, and they say something like “wow you don’t stutter anymore!” In this tone like you just won the lottery. It’s just silly that people think they should make this kind of comment, i mean first of all, no one asked. And the ignorance they’re showing is crazy. Why do you think you’re an expert on the way I speak? Finally, they’re making it seem like speaking fluently is sooo great and stuttering is sooo bad. And what are you going to say the next time, when I’m stuttering again? “Oh that’s so disappointing, your stutter came back!” 🤦‍♀️Bruh. people seem to have a hard time understanding that disabilities are not black and white states of being. A lot of disabilities come and go, and vary in severity. But people seem to think that if you have a disability, then you ALWAYS are disabled and it’s ALWAYS the same. So then when they see you without the disability being apparent, they think you are CURED! Reminds me of how some people use wheelchairs only sometimes, not because they can’t walk at all, but because they can’t walk long distances, but people think that using a wheelchair has to be all or nothing, and they think the person is faking if they see them stand up for a few seconds. PUT ON YOUR THINKING CAP PEOPLE. Anyway sorry just wanted to rant about that!
