Voluntary stuttering is ESSENTIAL in my mind If your goal is to overcome stuttering, you MUST remove your internalized conception that stuttering is a bad thing, something to be ashamed of. The only way you can re-align your mindset so that you aren’t afraid of stuttering, is, well, stuttering (voluntarily or involuntarily), realizing that the reality of stuttering wasn’t as damaging as expectations, and repeating. Am I missing something? How else can a person remove the tremendous feelings of fear and guilt they associate with stuttering, if they’re always trying to *hide* their stutter? One must prove to themselves that stuttering is nothing to be afraid of, and only then can other areas of the stutter be smoothed out. So yeah. Go stutter on purpose on the phone, at a drive through, with your grandma, with the guy fixing your wifi, it’s liberating when you see that effort is wasted trying to hide yourself.
