It is very complex. We treat speech, language, communication, voice, swallowing, auditory processing difficulties and more. You can specialise in working with children, teenagers or adults. I love being a Speech and Language Pathologist for many reasons. I am deeply fascinated by human communication and interaction, I love languages, science, psychology and being creative. My job constantly keeps me on my toes, no two clients are the same and scientific research is constantly advancing and changing our treatment approaches. I think it grows as a specialty because more people realise what a difference to people's lives we can make.
