In 2016, I participated in eight weeks of inpatient therapy, much of which consisted of confrontation therapy. Talking to people on the street, asking salespeople for advice, making phone calls. The speaking techniques did not work for me for long, however, I lost my fear of speaking. It was the best thing I ever decided to do and has made a lasting difference in my life. Now, seven years later, I work as a clerk for the city government, making phone calls and important conversations. And stuttering along the way. For my former self, all of this would be tantamount to a miracle.
