First off. I would say not to worry about your fluency. I never have, and if they have an issue with it you don't want to work there anyways. You provide value and are worth every cent. As for breaking into the field. I would have a good set of git repositories that can be viewed. Maybe highlight some open source projects you've contributed to. Focus on your adaptability and willingness to learn. Also, look at job descriptions for places you want to work and note the technologies they are using and try to learn about those.
