I've been going to a speech therapist recently which has helped me a lot. The therapist has taught me tools that help me avoid blockages such as: 1. Easy onset (taking a deep breath before starting a new sentence) 2. Remembering to maintain a light touch with your tongue and lips when you're speaking 3. Maintaining breath from your diaphragm instead of your chest My therapist also suggested I maintain a journal to note how severe my stuttering was everyday and what situations I found difficulty in. I found this quite useful as a reflective tool and it makes me more aware the next time I find myself in that situation. There are a few other tools, but these are some that I found most effective right now. I've had a stutter every since I can remember and never really believed that going to a therapist was worth it. However, after going to 5 sessions recently, I think having someone to talk to and practice with has given me more confidence. I also started meditating and exercising regularly which I think helps me too. Make sure to work on your speech regularly and you will see positive results sooner than you think. Don't give up hope, you can do it!
