Stutter and brain tumor I've been stuttering for more than 20 years. It was thought to be developmental stuttering until a brain tumor was discovered. The neurosurgeon told me it is located so that it could cause a stutter. It's not growing at this point. It's located near the cerebellum so it could affect speech muscle coordination. I always knew I was dealing with something unusual. Stutterers commonly say they don't stutter at all when they're talking alone. I have a block that feels like a physical block in the brain in the beginning of certain words starting with k, p or t. Fortunately a surgery is not needed now or maybe never since it seems to be a grade 1 tumor that's benign and grows either very slowly or not at all. I think the stuttering could get worse after an operation.
