Why is it distasteful to accept your stutter when there is currently no proven fix to it? I don't think its distasteful for an amputee to accept their condition. Sure, they can try to improve the quality of their lives with prosthetics but they will never be able to "cure/fix" their amputated limb. Obviously, if there is a fix/cure to a problem, then we should strive to solve it. But currently, there's none, we can only manage/lessen the stuttering and its negative effects in our lives. I don't people are trying to justify stuttering, I think they just came to the conclusion that instead of worrying about an unsolvable problem, that we instead accept it so we can at least be at peace in our hearts. Personally, I do believe you can significantly lessen your stutter, and ironically, a part of that process of significantly lessening your stutter is to first accept that you have stutter, to be open to the possibility of disclosing your stutter whenever you feel like you have to. To not dwell too much on what people think when they see you stutter etc. But for some, they might not make significant improvements, and if what gives them peace is to accept it, then I'm all for it!
