I'm sure some here (including me sometimes) feel like we're damaged mentally and irreparable without medical treatment. But when you think about ex-stutterers, you realize they were in the same boat we are in now. None of them had extra research or care from scientists. They just overcame their fear of stuttering and became fluent. This is the idea of neuroplasticity. Sculpting your mind to the point where you believe wholeheartedly that you can be an excellent speaker, or a great doctor, or a successful engineer. It may seem delusional at first, but over time your brain will become more positive over the idea of speech or education or etc. The most important thing about not stuttering is controlling your mind. To be honest I don't know how to do that fully either. But a good start is to not go into a conversation thinking "On which word will I stutter?" Instead think of why you are having this conversation and what you can gain from it and the individual. And finally I wish you guys all the best.
