Someone commented on it during an interview. "Hey, I noticed you had some difficulties" and I explained I had a slight stutter. The other person in the room was fine with it and tried to ease the situation but the one guy went on. "You know people judge you for that, right? You need to work on it for the future here. Have you seen King's Speech? See it, check it out." Yeah, tell me something I don't know. I've told some people before and they were understanding and left it at that without anything further. This guy just went too much. This isn't a reason I won't take the job but it's certainly not someone I want to work for. I expect it to come up on performance reviews in the future either directly or indirectly. He's always going to treat this as a mark on my character. I stutter every so often depending on the situation but it has never been an issue in any of my past jobs. Do you think I care if someone looks down on me because of a few speech slips that doesn't affect quality of work? Do you complain about thick accents or language barriers? People look down on that too for no good reason. I am present somewhere because I am qualified to be, stutter and all.
