I'm not sure if this is correct but I think that they mean for you to stop hiding your stutter. For example, what we stutters automatically do is that we stay silent, we try our best not to show that we stutter and we avoid public speaking at any costs. However, if we do the opposite of that (joining speech clubs, answering questions in class, talking out loud in public) things that non-stutters do, it will help us gain confidence. With confidence comes lesser anxiety, and lesser anxiety comes less stuttering.
