Stuttering when nervous is *literally* the caricature of stutterers. “T-t-there’s a gggggghost[insert other scary situation]!” has been done enough. Plenty of people who stutter actually have hard silent blocks, eye contact avoidance and other fear-based avoidance behaviors. We stutter (blocks) when ordering fast food, saying our name in the lowest stress situations, and when answering the phone with a friend. ordering fast food is not a high-stress situation.
