I agree, blocking is a type of stuttering. What I'm saying is in my experience and others, extreme blocks are often caused by trying to fight through smaller pauses and blocks. So the extreme blocks are not the stutter itself but a side effect that can be minimized with acceptance of the unavoidable and less severe speech disruptions. I'm not judging anyone just sharing my experience of how I stopped blocking. I still pause and have 2 second blocks but my jaw doesn't get locked open anymore. Not every technique works for every stutterer but if it helps one like it helped me, it's worth posting.
