My 2 cents. I'm 49, began Stuttering at age 5 due to traumatic dog attack. After 20 years of speech therapy, I went from 0% fluency to about 90%. Before, I hated when people would finish my sentences because it made me feel less than. Now, I welcome it. I stopped fighting my stutter and I embraced it. I no longer focus on my stutter, I focus on living. The less I pay attention to it, I notice it lessening. I focus on the conversation, I focus on the person I am speaking to and NOT my stutter. If I have a block, I stop, breathe and continue on. I still practice daily mindful meditation, diaphragmatic breathing and reading out loud. Just know that PWS are very courageous, creative and resilient. At my stage in life, I am now giving back sharing my 43 years of experience as a PWS. I have a podcast and YouTube Channel to let other PWS know that they are not alone. My goal is to inspire and learn from one another.
