To me it depends on the severity of the stutter and the experience overall. if i stuttered really bad then ruminating for me makes me depress, i start to think about the whole situation and thinking of what that person who heard my stutter must be thinking of me, and then i go on a depressive cycle. but if it was a mild stutter i dont spend much time thinking about it. Stuttering is psychological indeed, and someone who stutters for long time is already traumatized and anticipates the stutter on the next occurrence, whenever you speak the thought of “i’m going to stutter” repeats in your head or at least you know is bound to happened and frustrates you even more, so any conversation is a big deal. To ruminate for some people may help but for others if the experience was very embarrassing it could affect your self-esteem.
