Not that involved to be honest. I’m based in the UK and the research on stuttering has been lacking. What’s available has not particularly been in line with my experiences of stuttering growing up. For these reasons, the experiential experience of stuttering will not be delivered by experts because they are not. The experts on stuttering will be those who suffer from the condition. So these are the voices that will lead the support groups. Nonetheless, I do plan on bringing in various professionals from different disciplines to share their areas of knowledge where possible. I’m not entirely convinced of interventions that intend to treat stuttering by tackling the speech itself. Speech is an automatic process if it goes wrong then we must tackle the mechanisms that gives it automaticity not the speech itself. Let’s have the conversation here as it’s good for general reading and awareness.
