Winning the mental battle I've been stuttering for around 20 years and I thought we could use some positivity on this forum. I feel like with stuttering it's both a physical and a mental struggle, and I'm going to give some tips that have helped me deal better with the mental side of things. I'd love to hear from others too. Anyways, here are things that I always keep in mind: 1. Stuttering is not your fault. It is not a "curse" and you are in no way cursed or been specifically picked out by the universe to suffer. It probably just comes down to your brain chemistry/psychology (who knows?) and it does not make you any less of a man. 2. On the contrary, it makes you tougher than the majority of the population. If you've grown up with a stutter, it's like you've been forged in fire. You're one tough motherfucker. 3. You are not a victim. There is no perpetrator. 4. Lastly, improvement is possible and don't ever treat your current state like it's fate. There is no fate. There is no curse. Improvement, while difficult, is possible and it'll reap huge rewards.
