This is exactly the kind of answer I wanted! It's very helpful, thank you. There's non-verbal and filler sounds written into the dialogue from a variety of background characters, but they're mostly characters that just appear in one or two scenes, with this character being more major. I'm not sure if it would seem to 'stick out' more from a main character. And funnily enough, I prefer 'anyways' over 'anyway'! How would you recommend establishing that the character has a stutter, from a writing perspective? The simplest solution seems to be to write it into dialogue tags, or stating in the text that the character stutters over a certain sound/avoids those sounds so they won't stutter, but I'm not sure if there's another way that would be better.
