I went to speech therapy every week for years as a kid and I still stutter and have trouble speaking clearly as an adult now. But I also know other people who did the same therapy as a kid and now speak clearly as an adult. I think it’s extremely difficult to tell whether speech therapy is going to help a kid in the long run, or if it’s a bit useless. I mean, there’s no real understanding as of yet why people stutter or have disordered speech, so how can there be ‘treatments’ to fix it? The people who say there’s a ‘cure’ to stuttering, or that you’re not intelligent because you stutter, are idiots.
