Regarding the monster study, my take on it are the following learning points: * The children learned that disfluencies or stuttering is bad, right? So, we can learn that viewing stuttering as bad can increase pressure and inner conflict * Labeling children as stutterers, even if they initially did not stutter, leads to increased anxiety, speech problems and a self-fulfilling prophecy * Negative reinforcement significantly impacts self-esteem suggesting that environmental (and psychological) factors play an important role What did you learn from the Monster Study yourself?
