Stuttering in different langages I am french and I've been struggling with my stutter since I am 8. I noticed I wasn't stuttering when speaking another langage (for example in English class). Currently, I'm doing a year abroad in Scotland and I'm there since September. At first, I was 100% fluent in English but quickly, the stuttering came back and now I am at this point where I stutter way more in English in comparison to French! (needless to say I was so very depressed when I realised I stutter in every langage) Have you experienced this kind of change as well? I am almost 25 and I am still discovering things about my stuttering, every day. That reinforce the idea that stuttering comes mainly from what I think /dread. I wasn't used to speak English at all, my few attempts in class were good so I just "decided" I wasn't stuttering in English and stopped being stressed/tense about it - and as a result, ended up not stuttering because I was confident about the words coming out easily. Also, I feel like it's harder for me to speak in English as it is not my first langage and therefore, I struggle replacing words I can't say + I lack techniques to hide my stuttering whereas I've plenty of tricks in French!
