This is absolutely true. I do this all the time. I kind of mumble and leave out sounds that are hard for me. Sometimes I even leave out whole words in a sentence. People usually get the gist. It's like those things that go around where the letters in a word are all scrambled up but we can still read it just like it was normal text. Our brains just fill it in.
