To answer what gets people in that line of work. My parents' best friend since high school has a daughter who became a speech pathologist. I grew up with her, and her own father had a bit of a stutter as well. I think knowing two people who stutter and growing up around it peaked her interest. I think being a person who loves helping others and having some knowledge of speech impediments is what ultimately led to the perfession.
