Tips on becoming a personal trainer with a stutter? Hi everyone, I graduate college with a kin degree in December, and will most likely kick off real life as a personal trainer and see how things go… I have a dream to open my own gym, be a highly valued personal trainer/ fitness influencer and really have all the right cards lined up, but the only thing I see getting in the way is my stutter. Preferably, I will always be doing 1on1 training unless I have to do group sessions, so this may take some of the stress off. Personal training is big on communication as you need to build unique relationships with the people you’re working with, almost pretty intimate to a certain degree. With this being said, this will be a awesome opportunity to work on my speech everyday but I am worried how I will come off to others or If I will lose clients because of my stutter. I did a internship my senior year of H.S as a personal trainer, and it was pretty good but it was painful to see the looks on people faces, especially parents who were entrusting me with their kids, when they see my hit a mean speech block, stutter, or not disclose all the information I need too. Does anyone have any tips for me that also has to communicate a lot in their profession? Should I disclose my stutter right to my employer and clients so there isn’t confusion and I can get people to be more patient with me? Thanks so much
