When I was about 8, the teacher made us each read a sentence and went around the class, which to most stammers, is absolute torture, the quick time you have to count everyone in front of you and find your line, then say it over and over again. Eventually, it got to me, and I thought I wouldn’t have to read as this teacher know I had a stutter, then when I was struggling to say my words (it was in Irish so my stammer was already a bit worse as it’s another language) she says ‘Who’s an idiot?’ Which made me feel pretty shitty.
