I’m a nurse and the mother of a kiddo who stutters. I also have worked most of my career in unconventional roles. After two years of working in a hospital, I found a research role. From there, I was able to find other research roles for years. Mostly, these positions involved collecting and managing data. Less pressure than hospital work. More recently I’ve taken a consulting role in a law firm. Mostly reviewing medical records and writing summaries. All this to say, go for it! If hospital nursing isn’t your thing, there are lots of nursing jobs that pay well outside of hospitals. Good luck! I hope someone encourages my kiddo to live his dream when he is a bit older.
