Edit - you should read my comment again and see you completely missed the point! Pretty much every sentence suggested that repetitions are normal/fine, and blocks are the real problem. I have tips on how to decrease BLOCKS, which are absolutely different than repetitions,l. Blocks almost always coincide with panic, fear and avoidance. Did you even SEE the part that says to DO voluntary repetitions?? Except for a few misguided parents, I’ve seen zero examples here of ppl suggesting ppl should fix their stutter, whether they want to or not. This is a post about someone saying they are unable to make words come out of their mouth to the degree their friends rarely know what they are thinking! There is zero reason to come in with “let’s not force ppl to fix their stutter…” There are people who *have given up trying to communicate* bc their extreme hard panic blocks makes breathing, talking honestly virtually impossible. That level of dysfluency is debilitating, actually debilitating, and anyone who suggests what you are suggesting should feel lucky you do not know what that is like. Living with extreme panic blocks and avoidance behaviors is not good to embrace, as you have accidentally suggested. However, living with repetitions, prolongations, and occasional blocks that convert smoothly to the next sound - definitely embrace that. As I have. Maybe I misunderstood… but toxic positivity *hurts the people who are struggling the most*
