I worry about this to, but you have to understand, the worst thing you can do is not try. I’ve had a stutter my whole life, and I have managed to start a part time career in the military and am now pursuing a law enforcement career, both heavy on communication. I doubted myself, but I tried anyway. So can you. Another person said to be transparent about it, and I agree with it 100%. It’s not an issue to let your employer know you have a stutter. Most the time, at least for me, where stutterers falter is when they hold themselves back because they are worried what other people will think when they see them stutter, and not necessarily the stutter itself. You may be the first person many have ever met who has a prominent stutter, and they may just don’t know what to do, or how to be polite about it. Those who do know, they more than likely won’t care anyway. Bottom line, don’t be afraid to stutter, and be open about it. Better to try and fail than never try at all. If you have a prominent tick with it, I’d suggest speech therapy to at least help with the tick. All the best man. Keep at it.
