It's exactly the answer for me. I don't have any other explanation for my situation. My step brother was a stutterer and I became one myself later on. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence. My side of the family probably felt he was responible. He was social regardless of how he stumbled upon his words. He doesn't stutter at all these days. I stopped for different reasons. I stopped caring about others and only cared about myself. I was resentful of the people in the past who laughed, but I vowed to stop caring about what they thought about me. For a while I was angry, but I stopped stuttering. Recently I realize my classmate stutters when I spoke to her more. I never met a girl who stuttered before.
