My stutter how to manage/overcome Hello everyone First of all it's very nice that there is a stuttering subreddit. I am currently 18 and studying at University in Australia Well of course I have a stutter but my stutter is a weird one, for example when I am alone I am stutter free when I speak to my younger brothers who are 4,5 and 1 I am also stutter free, granted I can conversations with others with minimal stuttering for example if someone asks me what's the weather going to be like, I can usually answer 95% of the time with minimal or no stuttering, but the issue is I get anxious/nervous when I want to intiate a conversation, my stomach starts to churn and my heart rate increases basically the whole lot. Secondly I don't know if this is a traumatic experience but once in year 4, the teacher was going around asking people what sports they wanted to play, basically when it got to my turn I wanted to play basketball but instead it came out as B-bbbbasketball the whole class laughed at me Year 11 was also a bit tough, I had this English teacher who wanted everyone in our class to take turns reading out loud, this also made me very very nervous. I figured in 2018 that I really need to fix this up, I am thinking of taking therapy and forcing my self into situations where I need to converse. And finally I noticed that I stutter very little around close friends and when I need to make phone calls How can minimise/overcome my stutter
