If you talk to your professor before hand and tell them your concerns they will 9 times out of 10 understand. For my masters defense, i was able to record a video presentation and play it to the audience (had to get a letter from my speech therapist for this to be allowed though). I know those introduction classes may be anxiety inducing, and if im honest, i sometimes skipped the first class of each semester to avoid those situations as i have a severe stutter and would sometimes take a full minute to say my first name.
