I definitely don't feel like this is a truck or a technique. I've had speech therapy before where I got techniques to try, like extreme prolongations or starting my sentence on an out breath. These techniques take effort and you still feel like you're inside your head. But paying attention to what you see, and making an effort to keep your eyes active makes it impossible to get in your head and see the literal words before you and think of the whole sentence you still have to say. You are paying all of your attention outwards. You will get out of your head and actually start noticing what part of your message is landing to others, which was for me a complete paradigm shift. So far it doesn't feel to me like just a technique, it's still as potent as when I started.
