If it helps you become a confident speaker, and allows you to open up and express yourself, then I'd say thats a winning strategy. Something similar has worked for me, and I'm a much more confident speaker than what I was 2 years ago. My approach is basically to stutter voluntarily, but instead of stuttering out loud, I 'hum' the stuttering part, before saying the actual word. I might still stutter, but it relieves lot of pressure and fear of having to appear fluent. Using this approach my stutter has reduced significantly, and I'm 100x more confident/assertive expressing myself. My guess is that my sub-counscious no longer sees my stutter as a threat, and it does not trigger the panic alarms during speaking.
