This is actually kind of how I envision my stuttering having improved over the years. I feel that new stutter-free neural pathways have been created in my brain during the past 10 years. I also believe that this could be why people don’t stutter when they sing because it’s a completely separate neural pathway. Also, there are people who stutter in one language, but not another, and this to me also indicates a separate neural pathway. I myself stutter in all languages that I speak, but that doesn’t negate my theory because everyone’s brain is wired up differently. Finally, for people who don’t stutter when they speak to themselves, the act of speaking to someone else quite possibly creates enough stress to change the speech path in the brain. All that aside, for people who really have absolutely terrible stutters and can’t bear it any longer, perhaps taking mushrooms should be a viable medical option. Given the ridiculous amounts of medication that people regularly imbibe these days, I hardly think that mushrooms should be considered extreme.
