My stuttering comes and goes in waves as well. Sometimes it's quite manageable, other times it's a serious disability. Most colleges offer free therapy for their students. I took advantage of this, and it was life-changing. It helped me manage the depression and anxiety that often accompany stuttering. It's worth a try, since you have nothing to lose and quite a bit to gain. Your university most likely also has an accessibility center for people with disabilities. If you need special accommodations for any classes (communications/public speaking for example), they can work with you. A student counselor can help connect you with all of the resources your university offers. You aren't stupid. You aren't incompetent. You do have a disability that everyone on this sub shares. Don't give up. Don't let this disability destroy you.
