Reading this from my downtown Boston office :) ...I agree with your perspective. I first came across Biden's view of his stuttering in his book. He portrayed it as if he conquered it. I had to put the book down for a few minutes because I knew he still struggles with stuttering every time he opens his mouth. Like the guy in the article, I did want to see Biden write that stuttering is something he still works on and conquers daily. But that's not what he does. However, I truly believe that Biden's way of maintaining fluency is hiding/masking it and viewing it as conquered. It's all MENTAL. The acknowledgement and focus on it makes him stutter. The author notes that he stutters in the interview and his hands are visibly trembling. It brings up painful memories and thoughts for him that disrupt his fluency. I don't think it's entirely a political calculation on Biden's part. If he does make it further in this race, he will have to address it further. He will stammer more in debates and people will talk about it, so we'll see how he deals with it!
