From my undsrstanding its sometimes used alongside other forms of therapy/counselling. I know someone who had a debilitating fear of flying that underwent hypnosis therapy and it really helped her. I know there's lots of assumptions about hypnosis, but it's essentially just putting the brain into a deep, meditative state and working through problems. I've been seeing therapists about my stutter, and it was once suggested to me by my doctor too. I am really skeptical as well, but I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with this. I've never believed in homeopathy or alternative medicines but there is some scientific backing to this (providing, of course, you go to the right practitioner).
